Thing #16 Web 2.0 Tools

I chose iGoogle to build my customized start page with. It was easy to use, and I thought since I have signed up for other Google tools that it would make sense to also use the iGoogle start page. It gives you the choice of themes, and there are MANY items you can add to your start page. I stopped adding things to my start page whenever I got to page 20! The problems with adding so many things to your start page is that it is slow loading. I am going to go back in and narrow the list of things on my start page down. I will definitely make it my start page once I get it tweaked.

The online calendar will be a great tool to use to help you remember what is going on on any given day. It is easily accessible from any computer and eliminates you having to carry little pieces of paper around. A teacher I work with used an on-line calendar last year to keep track of what he would be teaching on any given day.

I added the to-do list to my iGoogle start page and the sticky notes. They will be useful to have because you can record things on them and access them from any computer. Along with the calendar, these tools will be extremely useful both at school and at home.

Although this isn't a tool, it was listed under the resources seciton. Top 25 Web 2.0 Apps to Improve a Student's or Professor's Productivity, Online Education Database is a SUPER place to go to get resources to help students AND teachers increase their productivity. This is one place I plan on revisiting after completing this class.

I love the iGoogle page too. My theme is the leopard Dolce and Gabanna. Very fashionable! :-)
