Home from Surgery

Hi everyone! I'm home from surgery. Everything went great, but I am limited on what I can do - go to the bathroom, prop up my leg, sleep, eat, watch t.v. and work on my laptop. They put a mesh basket in my ankle and on either side of it they put some stuff like they used after the separation of the Egyptian twins. It sets like concrete and is supposed to help stabilize the ankle bone. I have a soft cast on right now, but Tuesday they will put a hard one on. It will stay on 6-8 weeks, which means I won't get it off until the week of inservice. After the cast comes off, they will put me in a bledsoe brace for 4 weeks. Yuk! That means I will be hobbling around school looking like I have a Herman Munster leg. Since I can't leave 2 minutes early like a lot of our students do, I have to pray that no one steps on my foot/ankle when classes change.

Thank you to those of you who sent well wishs my way. I will be doing a lot of my online work starting tomorrow, so I should be caught up soon!

I'm glad your surgery went well. If you don't have a cane, get one before school starts. It will help with walks down the hall. You just can't use it to herd a poking kid along although it's tempting at times. :-)
