I'm not having such good luck with this blogging thing! I had a nice post written for Thing #2. Whenever I hit the "Publish Post" button, it somehow disconnected itself from Blogger.com. My post disappeared into thin air, but the title remained! So, here I go again...Creating the blog was easy, but it didn't always cooperate with me. This is not the original blog that I created. That one got deleted because an image I had inserted into the header would not let me delete it. I consulted all sorts of "Blogging for Dummies" sites on the web. I did what they said to do, but none of their suggestions worked. I solved the problem by deleting the entire blog and starting over! O.K., I know........I let the blog defeat me. Avatar? What's an avatar? I didn't have a clue as to what an avatar is, what it looks like, or how to make one. I felt really dumb whenever my husband had to explain to me what one is! O.K. Now that I know what one is, where do I go to make one? Duh......click on the "avatars" link on the "23Things blog." It was fun making the avatar, but I wasn't sure how to get her on my blog. The instructions said to "export" the code. I just copied and pasted it into my blog. I was pleased with the way my avatar turned out. I only wish I looked as good as she does! Posting may be a bit difficult for me. I love to write, but it takes a while for me to get "inspired." I'm sure that I will improve as I go from thing to thing. One thing that really bugs me about this posting (Thing #2) is that it would not let me make paragraphs like I did in one of my previous posts. It clumped everything together. I figured out how to conquer that problem until I have more time to work with it....alternate colors on the paragraphs! Sorry if you get crosseyed from reading two colors.

Excellent post! This is the kind of writing that we are looking for - reflective and descriptive of the process you are going through to learn about these things.
Don't get discouraged. I have had things disappear on me before into thin air. Technology can be frustrating at times, but I like the way you didn't give up, and I love your Avatar.
I'm right there with you when it comes to avatars. The only reason I knew the word was because it came up in a word definition game! I also had trouble adding the avatar, but enjoyed deciding what I would like (or wish I looked like!).
I love the way that you searched for help by looking into differnet places. Wouldn't it be great if we could get our students to search around before coming to us for questions?
You're doing great! Keep it up!
