I do web design, so I try to stay up-to-date on anything to do with technology. I found out after reading several of the Web 2.0 articles that I don't know it all. I had never heard of del.icio.us or Flickr. Technology has really exploded since the early 1990's. What is current one day is obsolete the next day. It is difficult to stay abreast of all the new technology resources available out there

I interpret School 2.0 as meaning the schools of the future. Schools need to incorporate and utilize all available technology resources. Our students are very interested in technology, and I believe that if schools utilized some/all of these new resources, then the studens would become more interested in learning. The only problem with that is that the firewalls some of the school districts have in place do not allow access to some of these resources. Systems would have to be reconfigured to allow access to the resources while preventing access to inappropriate sites.
The day will come whenever textbooks, notebooks, workbooks, and lined notebook paper will be obsolete Classrooms will have a laptop or desktop for every student. Work will be submitted electronically and communication can be made with students worldwide studying the same subject.

I agree that we need to take another look at our school filters. We definitely need some safety measures but we could open up so many tools for our students to use. I think a lot of the filtering needs to come in the classroom management. What kind of assignments are we asking students to do on computers.
