Creating an account on Facebook was easy. It was adding "friends" to it that was a bit frustrating. I put my husband's name down to add as a friend, and ended up adding 2 pages of people, from very young to very old! Hazlett is not a common last name, although his first name (Jim) is. I've got to go back in and delete all those strange people off of my Facebook "friends" list, if I can figure out how to do that! I chose Facebook because last year several of my students asked me if I have a MySpace account.
It is important that educators know how social networking works so that they can connect with people around them, share photos and ideas, and learn more about the people they work with and/or meet.
I don't like the blah navy blue background that is on Facebook, and I can't figure out if it can be changed or not. MySpace, even though it has the same blah navy blue background, has a bit more color and appears more lively. MySpace has MANY more areas to choose from than Facebook. Facebook seems pretty basic.
I suppose this would be a good way to communicate with your students whenever they are out sick or on the weekends.
I could not find where I needed to add my Facebook url in my profile, so I am including it below. Please click on the image. (I warn you..........there is NOTHING spectacular about my Facebook account except for all those names that I don't know who they are!)
Well, I got something from my Facebook account linked to the above image. I guess I'm Facebook illiterate.
